Fulgur Ventures invested in Casa, the multisig Bitcoin self-custody pioneer. Casa secures keys, eliminates single points of failure, and builds inheritance plans so that bitcoin can be preserved across generations, not just held across cycles.
Investing in Casa: sovereignty for the long term. Founded in 2016 by Jeremy Welch, Jameson Lopp, and Nick Neuman, Casa is the most established multisig self-custody service in Bitcoin. From its Denver base, Casa secures private keys for individuals, families, and institutions through hardware-backed multisig vaults, dedicated client advisors, and inheritance plans designed to outlive any single device, exchange, or even custodian.
Self-custody sounds simple until a hardware wallet is lost, a seed phrase is destroyed, or a holder passes away without documentation. Casa solves these failure modes with engineered redundancy. Multiple keys, geographically distributed and managed across distinct devices, ensure no single mistake or attacker compromises a vault. The team's research, including Jameson Lopp's long track record on operational security, gives Casa a depth of practical custody knowledge that is genuinely rare.
Casa fits our security thesis perfectly. We believe Bitcoin's value proposition collapses if individuals cannot hold their own keys, and that custody UX must evolve from terrifying to trustworthy if Bitcoin is to anchor multigenerational wealth. Casa is doing the unglamorous, decades-long work of making sovereignty practical: client services, recovery testing, inheritance protocols, and hardware-agnostic vaults that respect the user above all.
Our market vision is unambiguous. As bitcoin matures into a global treasury asset and personal savings vehicle, demand for serious custody will dwarf today's market by orders of magnitude. High-net-worth individuals, family offices, and corporate treasurers will refuse to leave coins on exchanges. The companies that own the trusted custody relationship will compound for decades, and Casa already holds that position with thousands of members.
Sovereignty is a long game. We are honored to back Casa as it secures Bitcoin for the long term.
