Fulgur Ventures is backing PPQ.ai, a pay-per-prompt AI gateway that lets anyone query frontier models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google over Bitcoin's Lightning Network with no accounts and no subscriptions.

Today we are announcing our investment in PPQ.ai, a pay-per-query AI platform founded by Matt Ahlborg that turns frontier model access into a true utility. Instead of monthly subscriptions, account creation and credit-card walls, PPQ lets users pay tiny amounts over the Bitcoin Lightning Network for each prompt sent to top models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and others. Open the page, top up sats, ask anything.

PPQ is one of the cleanest demonstrations we have seen of why machines need money that machines can actually use. Card networks were never designed for sub-cent, account-less, machine-to-machine payments, and the result is a paywall economy that excludes huge swaths of users and developers. Lightning collapses that friction. With PPQ, an AI agent in Lagos, Sao Paulo or Jakarta can access the same models on the same terms as one in San Francisco.

The investment fits Fulgur's thesis at two levels. First, Lightning is becoming the default settlement layer for the agentic web, and we want to back the products proving that thesis with real users today. Second, PPQ is a forcing function for the broader pay-per-call economy: APIs, data, compute and inference all metered in sats. Matt has shipped fast, kept the surface area minimal and let the protocol do the heavy lifting.

As autonomous agents proliferate, the bottleneck stops being intelligence and starts being settlement. Every agent that wants to compose tools, buy data or call a peer needs a payment rail that is global, instant, programmable and free of identity overhead. PPQ is showing what that future feels like, one prompt at a time, and we are thrilled to support the team as it scales.
